Robin Barker

Robin is a five-foot hoofer, a classically trained teacher, choreographer, performing artist, former dance captain, and former Principal Dancer of the New Jersey Tap Ensemble. She has been a member of the Actors Equity Association since 1994 and the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society since 2023. In ARTA, she serves on the Member Council, the Events Committee, and as Co-Chair of EDIAA. Eligible for the Screen Actors Guild since 2017, she holds a B.F.A. in Liberal Arts and Science from Niagara University. Robin has studied under numerous dance instructors, tap masters, and dance choreographers nationally and internationally over the years, in several forms of dance. In addition to performing nationally with Sesame Street Live as Elmo, Robin has shared the stage with the NJ Symphony Orchestra and the Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Broadway and film tap masters and actors. You may also have seen her in various Off-Broadway productions and other NYC venues such as Lincoln Center, Town Hall, The Merkin Concert Hall, NJPAC, The Joyce Theater, or in the Purge 4 movie (Universal Studios) as an extra filmed in her hometown of Buffalo.

Robin has taught and choreographed in NYC, Tri-State, and WNY regional theater and dance studios, The Willie Hutch Jones After-School Education and Sports Program, and Miss Barbara’s School of Dance, as well as collegiate, community, and regional theater productions. 

Her favorite WNY regional musical theater performances include Ain’t Misbehavin, Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, and Anything Goes. She was Associate Choreographer for the Artie Award-winning Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope (Outstanding Ensemble). Robin was Artie-nominated for Stompin at the Savoy (Outstanding Choreographer), and won an Artie (Outstanding Ensemble) at the Paul Robeson Theater. Robin has choreographed the Broadway-adapted musicals The Color Purple and Heathers, and served as associate choreographer for The Drowsy Chaperone (Buffalo State) and Beehive (MuscialFare). Also at MusicalFare, she choreographed the Artie-winning DISASTER! (Outstanding Ensemble).

Robin’s greatest gift is the blessing of her son (and bonus children), with continued love and support from family and close friends. Robin welcomes new business and performance opportunities and partnerships under Biz E. Byrd Productions, LLC and continues to walk in FAITH on every part of this journey!
